CSULB MSW Program

Miriam Galindo

For more than 25 years, Miriam Galindo, PsyD, has helped young people in California, first as a social worker with Olive Crest in Santa Ana and more recently as a psychologist with Families in Transition in Irvine. Before studying for her doctorate, Dr. Miriam Galindo received her MSW from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

The CSULB MSW program offers students an opportunity to prepare for advanced generalist social work practice and holds programmatic accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education. Programs last between two and three years, depending on the needs of the student, and require a total of 60 semester units. Those who attended an undergraduate social work program can apply for advanced standing within the program.

Moreover, the program offers students the chance to choose one of three specializations: child and family wellbeing, adulthood and aging, and integrated health. All three options provide students with a foundation of evidence-based approaches to social work, but focus narrowly on issues relevant to specific sections of the population.
